IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Diego (Agency) is dissolved as of February 1, 2012, per Assembly Bill 1X 26 (AB 26). The City of San Diego, serving as the successor agency per Resolution No. R-307238 (PDF) (January 12, 2012), has assumed the former Agency's assets, rights, and obligations under the California Community Redevelopment Law, subject to some limitations, and is winding down the former Agency's affairs and taking other actions in accordance with the dissolution provisions in Part 1.85 of AB 26. Redevelopment activities in the Redevelopment Agency's fourteen (14) Project Areas (PDF: 11.5Mb) are carried out by the City's Redevelopment Department and two non-profit public corporations: Centre City Development Corporation and Southeastern Economic Development Corporation. These Project Areas, located in various parts of the City, encompass more than 11,700 acres. Several major projects and programs in these areas are catalysts for further development.

The City of San Diego's Redevelopment Department administers an affordable housing program and 11 of the Redevelopment Agency's 14 Project Areas, encompassing approximately 7,613 acres:

The Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) was established in 1975 by the City Council to carry out redevelopment activities in Downtown San Diego. CCDC has a seven-member board of directors and a staff to implement programs in its Project Areas comprising approximately 1,490 acres. CCDC administers two redevelopment Project Areas:


The Southeastern Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) was established by the City Council in 1981 to carry out redevelopment in southeastern San Diego. SEDC has a nine-member board of directors and a staff to implement programs in its Project Area that comprises of approximately 1,055 acres. SEDC administers one redevelopment Project Area and one Study Area:
